Bringing Up Baby??
Royal Ontario Museum
Canada’s most visited museum and preeminent field research institute, with a collection of more than 13 million objects.
Big, bad, and mean, the great Tyrannosaurus rex looms large in our imaginations as one of the most ferocious hunters to have ever roamed the Earth.
ROM’s crowd-favourite exhibition?T. rex: The Ultimate Predator, presented by Desjardins Group, is currently thrilling visitors with a packed gallery of towering and terrifying models, casts, and fossil specimens of various members of the tyrannosaur family, including the Tyrant Lizard King himself. But it also offers a revealing new perspective of the legendary dinosaur that began life as a turkey-sized hatchling - fluffy, feathered, and frankly, quite cute.
Starting this week, visitors outside of the Museum will be able to interact with a?baby?T. rex, as ROM installs a large-scale?baby?monitor featuring a screen peeking into an imagined ‘T. rex nursery.’ Brought to life through the support of Desjardins Group, the monitor’s screen features a video animation that will reveal how a young T. rex might have moved and sounded in the earliest, most vulnerable stage of life. With the push of a button, visitors can check in on the hatchling as it snoozes and stirs.
The T. rex?baby?monitor on the Bloor Street plaza in front of ROM will remain on display until the exhibition closes on September 4, 2023.
Tickets may be reserved at rom.ca.
