Bringing talent to the Emirates

Bringing talent to the Emirates

?The Emirates is home to over 8 million people from over 195 nationalities, living, working, learning and playing together in a peaceful, stable and secure environment that is uniquely open to ideas, innovation and opportunities. Companies founded and fostered in the Emirates have gone on to become regional and global leaders, from giants such as Emirates Airline and DP World through to brilliant startups and technology leaders from Noon and Careem through to Telegram and Anghami.

As a young, dynamic and future-focused nation which has grown and developed since its foundation in 1971 to become the world’s 30th largest economy and a world leader in a number of fields, including multi-modal transport, logistics, aviation, industry, hospitality and facilities and operations management, the Emirates is now moving from being a recognized trade hub to becoming an IP hub. An open invitation to the world’s dreamers and doers has been extended, opening up opportunities like never before.

It has never been easier to bring an idea to life anywhere in the world than it is today in the Emirates.

With a business infrastructure recognized as second to none and a range of initiatives designed to foster new ideas and turn them into vibrant, global businesses, the Emirates is setting out its stall as the best place in the world for talent to thrive. A national strategy for talent attraction and retention, launched in April 2021, is at the core of a range of moves that open up funding, business ownership, an income and corporation tax-free environment. Alongside this, the Emirates offers a regulatory environment that is business-friendly and yet protective, a funding environment that provides critical financial support at every stage of a startup’s journey from a brilliant idea to a global market leader and an attractive living environment that makes it easier to attract and retain global talent.

The Emirates trends in the upper reaches of a host of global indexes relating to ease of doing business, investment, stability, livability (including education, healthcare and personal safety) and investment, and is responsible for something like 68% of the renewable energy generated in the Middle East. It has a range of future-focused development goals that are themselves a source of massive commercial opportunity, ranging from key developments in AI and autonomous transportation systems through to renewables, AgTech, blue-sky research and a fast-moving and entrepreneurial advanced technology and space sector.

The combination is compelling – and the goal is clear: bring new ideas to life, nurture them and invest in their growth and create an environment where business growth and job creation go hand in hand with intellectual and creative flourishing, a brilliant lifestyle and the room to grow and develop in the most rewarding way.

Talents have contributed to our development journey since foundation and with a stated aim of becoming the best country in the world by 2071 – and a strategy to back that goal, the Emirates is emerging as a global hub for expertise, innovation and ideas and a leading destination in the global market for talent.

I see the middle east - particularly UAE making great strides in the field of technology and innovation. The UAE is a global destination for innovation and technology. From what I know - today, there is an increasing number of partnerships between universities in the UAE and globally recognized institutions, which has led to vast improvements in research and development capabilities locally. And it seems like the aim is to become a leading hub for innovation and technology by investing in research, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as providing support services to help foster entrepreneurship. In order to achieve the lofty goals - UAE will need talent. Talent is a word that describes the skills, abilities, knowledge and experience of an individual. When looking for the best talent, it's important to think outside the box and create opportunities that are not offered elsewhere. In the past, it was easier to recruit in local markets and attract top talent. However, as global competition heats up, employers need to start thinking outside their immediate area. Simply put, they have to offer something more to compete for top talent.
