Bringing The Power Of Giving to The Mass Market
Donating to charities is something that most Americans probably would like to do but are not sure when or where to start—or who to donate to. And outside of a fundraising call, a Sarah McLachlan commercial, or unfortunate event of a natural disaster, people may never think to donate. Well luckily for the average household, some organizations are making this process easier and easier, and even trying to make giving a habit.
One company bringing generosity into the 21st century and to the next generation is Daffy, a non-profit creating community hubs for finding charities and donating to them by making Donor Advise Funds available to the rest of us.
To talk more about how he is making giving into a habit, we invited Adam Nash to this episode of The Reboot Chronicles Show. Adam is a Silicon Valley veteran, helping people access over 1.5 million charities and rebooting an old model industry along the way.

In The Arms Of Daffy
Daffy is looking to make Donor Advise Funds more accessible to the mass-market. As Adam puts it “There’s over a thousand donor advise funds in the US and most of them are not targeting those 60 million households.” Coupled with the fact that Daffy was the first fully functional donor advisor fund in the app store, they have the potential to take democratized giving to the next level. Not only are they making donating easier, but they are also helping communities to grow around the charities that are being donated to. Adam equates Daffy’s end goal to something akin to LinkedIn. A hub where members could follow, research, and donate to charities all in one area, and see how other members, friends, or family are donating as well. Kind of like a one-stop shop for generosity.
Embedding Giving Into Businesses
When you get hired at a new company with some structure, you may be offered a 401k, or maybe even an IRA. Well last year, Adam rolled out Daffy For Work which, in very simplified terms, is a 401k for charities—allowing those who can have money set aside automatically that will be donated to a charity of their choice. There are even systems set in place like 401k matching for these charity accounts, giving companies less work to do, and employees more options on where their money goes.
What's Next In Giving
On top of making donating easier for everyone, the Daffy team has been innovating other aspects of charity as well. One is for the people who use Daffy to donate at the end of the year, or when the tax season comes, you do not have to go searching for charity receipts, as they are all in one place. Also, with the goal of a LinkedIn-style app, there will be innovations where people can learn more about where their money is being directed. It also opens opportunities to allow for non-monetary giving, by using Daffy as a place to join disaster relief teams or local community boards.
