In Maya Angelou’s poem, Life Doesn’t Frighten Me, she fills each stanza with ostensibly scary things before bullishly declaring “Life doesn’t frighten me at all.â€
Here is the first stanza to give you a glimpse:?
Shadows on the wall.?
Noises down the hall
Life doesn’t frighten me at all
Bad dogs barking loud
Big ghosts in the cloud
Life doesn’t frighten me at all
Life is full of things that we may feel scared or intimidated by: uncertainty, the sense that we need to prove ourselves in our social circles or jobs, or illness.?
But, as Angelou defiantly and poetically reminds us, we possess a superpower that is uniquely up to the task: the ability to decide in each moment to live among, rather than in fear, of them.?
