Do you want to achieve more prosperity in your life? Simple, get your passport and head to the airport. Traveling the world is an excellent way of seeking knowledge, exploring business ideas and opportunities. If you do not believe me, ask Ibn Battuta, Christopher Columbus or Marco Polo! They all carved their names in the history books and changed the world to what we know it today.
As an author, I will share with you two examples of how traveling is helping in writing more articles effortlessly.
In September 2017, I was attending a conference in California, USA. I was ready with my pen and notepads to write all the ideas and actions that I should make when I return to Bahrain. When the Master of Ceremonies introduced Nick Nanton and announced his speech title, my eyes widened, and I had a big smile on my face. I thought this would be a future book. The title was: “24 Keys To Success.”
I noted down all the keys without fail. I took pictures of my notes and uploaded them to Google Drive immediately. When I returned to Bahrain, I typed them to make sure I never lose them. This was not the only time I was inspired during my travels.
On 21 September 2019, I was returning from Dubai, and as usual, I browsed the books in the Duty Free Market. There was one that I could not resist buying; 100 Things Successful People Do by Nigel Cumberland.
I had a quick conversation with him on Twitter @NigelCumberland:
“Hello Nigel, Greetings from Bahrain! I just bought your book from Dubai: "100 Things Successful People Do." And I loved your chapter titles, and I was wondering if it is ok if I use them to trigger my own thinking about them in the form of articles; before reading your thoughts and suggestions. I am eager to hear from you.”
One day later, Nigel replied:
“Please do, and I am happy to connect on social media and be tagged.”
And the article you are reading now is the first of a series of 100 articles that I will write using Nigel’s chapter titles as writing prompts to express my own thinking. With this, I hope I will never experience the condition of the writer’s block!
This was just one application on how traveling is helpful to me in achieving my writing aspirations. As for you, travel with a clear intention. For example, if you are a chef, travel the world to explore traditional recipes and spices. Bring them home, add your own touches to delight your customers. That way, you will surely prosper!
