Bring Drones to Your Classroom with STEAM Drones

Drones are unlocking unlimited potential for students in the field of science, technology, arts and math. The future holds drones and the coding behind these robots very highly, so teachers need to get their classrooms on board.

Software: STEAM Drones utilizes DroneBlocks’s highly developed application that provides students with a blank canvas for programming autonomous drone flight. This is open source – Dynamic Block Based Coding engaging coding learners of all ages, from kindergarten to 12th grade. DroneBlocks software is compatible with iOS, Android, & Chrome, allowing teachers to easily get up and going with the software. Furthermore, our software is collaborative: we encourage & incorporate feedback from students, teachers & developers.

Extensive Curriculum: DroneBlocks detailed cloud-based curriculum can be applied with varying age ranges and is extremely conducive to students with diverse learning styles by helping them learn math, science & logic through fun and practical application. Our curriculum covers safety, regulations, and the real-world applications of drone technology. We include instructional videos that correspond with each lesson plan and lessons that are aligned with Common Core standards. With DroneBlocks curriculum, students will learn the basics of block style coding applying fundamentals of math, science, and logic. Students will then test their code on the small and indoor friendly drones. Once students master the basics of block style coding they will move on to more advanced Python programming language. Python is an open source platform that is used worldwide especially in the robotics industry. In addition, with our new JavaScript course, students will dive into the world of flow-based programming with Node-RED for drones. Node-RED is a powerful visual editor for developing custom software for IoT, the Internet of Things. Since the drones can be programmed using UDP this makes Node-RED a logical choice for building advanced drone missions.

Professional Development (teacher training): For drone and coding education to be successful, teachers need to have complete knowledge before getting in front of their students.
