Brind’Amour On His Low-End Canes Contract: “It’s Not Going To Be An Easy Negotiation”

When Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon hired Rod Brind’Amour in May 2018, it made sense that Brind’Amour ranked among the lowest-paid head coaches in the National Hockey League. Dundon was the first-year owner of a downtrodden, small-market franchise that had missed the playoffs for nine consecutive seasons, marking one of the longest postseason droughts in NHL history, and Brind’Amour had never been a head coach — at any level. But now the Canes have made five straight playoff trips, and at least eight coaches make more than twice Brind'Amour's annual salary. “I know it’s not going to be an easy negotiation,” Brind’Amour told David Glenn of the North Carolina Sports Network and the David Glenn Show. “I can tell you that.” (click for article/video) #NHL #hurricanes #hockey #northcarolina

1 年Great interview with Brindy. Who else in pro sports has his level of loyalty to a franchise and community in this age of money first? So refreshing.
