Brilliant Earth Anniversaries

Brilliant Earth Anniversaries

We missed some very important anniversaries as teams were all focused on safe reopening and adapting to virtual work here at Brilliant Earth. We want to recognize our team members who have celebrated amazing milestones over the past few months. They are reflecting on why they chose to join Brilliant Earth, what their favorite memory has been, and what advice they'd offer to new or potential team members.

What is your favorite memory with BE?

One of my favorite memories was when I first started working here and we had a “Don’t Break the Ice” tournament. DiamondOps won the tournament so we got to have a pizza party. It was a great way to start off working here because it was exciting that we had won and it was a great way to get to know my team a lot better.

What is your favorite memory with BE?

My favorite memory with BE was our quarterly outing to the Botanical Gardens! I had such a great time with our team, and being new to San Francisco, it was an amazing experience. I also love plants, so being surrounded by so many was a dream haha. We have such a tight-knit team, and spending time together in and out of the office is never short of a great time.

Why did you join Brilliant Earth?

I was so excited to join a company I had been online stalking since college! I had been regularly creating rings on the website for years, just for fun. When I saw on LinkedIn that the marketing team was hiring, I jumped at the chance to apply. I was also excited about the prospect of working for a brand with such a strong mission.

Why did you join Brilliant Earth?

Initially, I joined BE because it was a very interesting company and a new adventure. And since I have joined I learned more and more alongside the DC office and the overall team. I love being here every day and working hard to keep growing.

Which Pillar of Culture is your favorite and why?

My favorite Pillar of Culture is Embrace Growth and Change because it is there to champion hard work and the results of that hard work. But also to help others succeed as well.

What advice would you offer to individuals who are interested in or just started a career at BE?

The best advice I would offer to individuals who are interested in or just started a career at BE would be to jump at any opportunities to help out other teams. Working with other teams and helping with tasks that need completion is the best way to uphold our Pillars of Culture while learning new processes. If you reach out, someone will always be there and will appreciate your willingness to help out!

What is your favorite memory with BE?

My favorite memory with Brilliant Earth was our quarterly outing earlier this year when we went bowling in Venice. It was a great way to also welcome our new manager, Briana Baker, and our other new team members to our team. We are a super close team and it was great to be together with each other outside of the office. I'm so happy I met such a great group of people through BE and I'm so lucky to be part of the WEHO team.

Which Pillar of Culture is your favorite and why?

My favorite pillar of culture is Bias Toward Action. I love that Brilliant Earth employees are encouraged to take action, consider solutions, and think outside the box. It makes our culture exciting and so fun to be a part of! I think it also keeps us relevant to our customers, as we are constantly coming up with new ideas to serve them. I am constantly impressed with the way my colleagues demonstrate this pillar, and it is one of the (many) reasons I love being a Brilliant Earthling!

What is your favorite memory of BE?

One of my favorite memories was the Customer Experience outing we did to Voicebox (a local karaoke club). There was food and drink for literally 30 people and we all were able to take home leftovers, and it reminded me yet again how much I love the fun and amazing people I get to work with!

What is your favorite Pillar of Culture?

My favorite has changed a few times, but Ownership has been prominent for me since the beginning. My job at BE was my first out of college, and this pillar really taught me to be confident in the work I put out, to own my mistakes but not feel cursed by them, and to do more than what’s expected whenever possible!

Why did you join Brilliant Earth?

I joined Brilliant Earth because I wanted to work for a company that cared about its impact on the world, and didn’t just put profit above everything.

What is your favorite memory with BE?

My favorite memory with a customer is the first BE love I got from one of my customers – he sent a link to the video on youtube and I still have it bookmarked! My favorite memory with my team is the little potluck tea party we had.

Why did you join Brilliant Earth?

I joined Brilliant Earth for a number of reasons. The number reason is a former colleague of mine worked at Brilliant Earth and she told me about all the exciting things happening at BE and what a great company it is. I wanted to be a part of what the company was building. The company is growing fast but ideas are heard and people are valued. I wanted to work at a company where they are making a difference instead of just making a buck. I love Brilliant Earth’s mission. I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to do something that mattered with great people. I am not disappointed I joined! I have worked with many great people over my career but have never worked with as many great people as I do now. I genuinely like everyone I work with. I have learned so much and continue to learn more every day. I am excited about all the growth we have before us. It feels like every day we get better. I am so grateful to be a part of this team!

What is your favorite pillar of culture?

My favorite Pillar (of the moment…it’s hard to pick a forever-favorite) is Embrace Growth and Change. I have felt so moved by the ways everyone at BE has come together over the past few months to ensure that we can continue to serve our customers in spite of all of the challenges we’re facing. Since March, we’ve rolled out Virtual Appointments, SMS, and 24-hour availability. In spite of travel limitations, we’re now reaching customers all around the world like never before! In a moment in time that it would be easy to feel discouraged, overwhelmed, and alone, this team has instead come together to accomplish amazing things with one another. I’m so grateful to be part of this family!

What advice would you offer to individuals who are interested in or just started a career at BE?

Dive in with everything you have! Soak up all the guidance your peers and leaders have to offer but don’t be afraid to inject your point of view. The most fulfilling part of working on a team is the power we have to change each other. Embrace differences and let their influences mold you into a better version of yourself. Make suggestions, take risks, and be open to new ways of doing things. There are no boundaries at Brilliant Earth - only potential for growth and development!

What is your favorite memory with BE?

There are so many! I will need to share at least two quick ones. One that stands out is moving into our current office space in SF. We were moving from just a few blocks away, but it was a huge upgrade in space and a sign of the exciting growth ahead. And secondly, earlier this year one of my siblings sent me photos from my home town's student art show that I used to participate in each year. In addition to photos of my niece's artwork, they sent me a photo of another student's drawing of an engagement ring that they were admiring, not realizing that it was our Willow ring! Thinking about a random teenager 3,000 miles away obsessing over one of our designs was an amazing reminder of how far our reach extends. I am excited to watch our continued and growing positive influence on the jewelry industry.

Kylie T. A bracelet I purchased my girlfriend from Brilliant Earth broke (dainty chain). Do you guys do repairs, or would I be best taking it to a local jeweler?
