Brilliant or DECEIVING? The value of transparency...
2 tacos = $7.00?
1 beer = $10 …. And why I won’t return
The taco place at the Domain seemed like a great place to go. I happily ordered 2 tacos and a beer. While the food prices were openly on the menu, the beer wasn’t.?
Foolishly I assumed like similar places my beer would be around $5 or $6.00. When they rang up my order I was advised that I owed over $17.00.?
“How can this be?” I asked.
“The cashier calmly replied that the beer was $10.00!
I grudgingly paid and took my beer. However the more I thought about it the more annoyed I became. I went back to look at the menu. No beer prices. Then I asked the manager why the beer prices weren’t posted. “We just don’t bother putting them up.” Came his cavalier reply.?
At first, I shared with my friend what a brilliant strategy this was. Sure, their customers get screwed but the establishment realizes that tacos go great with beer, and when they are in the moment they just accept it. Besides, this IS the Domain, right?
But he was correct. I, like others, may have been the dummies who forked out ten bucks for a beer in a plastic cup, but we still should have known (even at the point of ordering) that it would cost more than anticipated. Sure, they won when they gouged me an extra $4 – 5 bucks but I will never return.
