"It was just a few weeks ago, that we were somberly recognizing the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks: a tragic day of loss that will forever impact so many. Now, in recent days, our friends in Israel have sadly experienced a historic day of terrorism, which has needlessly impacted thousands of families.

I am shocked and appalled by Hamas' violent, deadly and inhumane actions. Terrorism has no place in this world and can NEVER be justified, rationalized or tolerated. Acts of terror, in all their various forms, represent a grave threat to global peace, security, and the very fabric of human society. Evil actors terrorize innocent individuals to instill fear, sow discord, and defeat the fundamental values and freedoms that we all hold dear. The indiscriminate nature of terrorist acts undermine our efforts to create global cooperation, progress and peace for all.

We must stand resolute against terrorism and those that perpetuate it. In these challenging, uncertain times, I have an unflinching faith in a couple of things, including the powerful ability of good to overcome evil, as long as there are humans that are boldly willing to take action, and NOT sit idly by and do nothing. This is a critical choice each of us has to make, each and every day. I have endless hope and prayers for much better days ahead, for all."
