In February, Rhode Island made a significant announcement, officially selecting the Sense-enabled Landis+Gyr Revelo meter for deployment across their service area. This milestone will position Rhode Island Energy customers among the first to access real-time insights into their home energy usage through the Sense app. The announcement followed the Rhode Island Public Utility Commission’s AMI mandate, emphasizing the importance of delivering immediate customer benefits.

We’ve recently returned from a trip to Japan, where we had the privilege of presenting to an exclusive group of senior utility delegates, over the course of a 10-day delegation. Our CEO, Mike Phillips, delivered an insightful keynote, deep diving into AMI 2.0 and highlighting the critical role of high-resolution data in achieving grid-edge intelligence.
Initial trials of Sense technology in the region have been a success. Looking ahead, we anticipate working with our partners and utilities to ensure Sense runs on next generation smart meters in this market and begin rolling out to many homes across Japan. Like North America today, consumers will start to benefit from enhanced energy insight, the cost of managing the grid will fall, and domestic flexibility will become viable at scale. We’re excited to help contribute to the energy transition in Japan.
We look forward to unveiling official announcements later in 2024.
