A brief reflection on 2020

2020 has certainly sealed its fate in the annals of history as one of the most trying years in our modern times and if I could I would nominate it for the Oxford Word of the Year simply because of the new plethora of meanings that can now be derived from it. For example, ‘suspense’, ‘unpredictable’, and ‘chaos’, just to name a few so it comes as no surprise that it hasn’t been without its ups and downs, and challenges and changes for me, but yet I found a way to overcome them, and it required just a sprinkling of self-introspection. Not that it had so much to do with the lockdown measures or adjusted working hours brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, as it did with the “social/physical distancing” necessary in order to keep us safe. When I really considered what makes me who I am I had no choice but to reach within and to rely on my inner strengths, such as faith, patience, tenacity, compassion, enthusiasm, and optimism, and this together with my family and friends made surviving 2020 more tenable.
But this past year also presented opportunities for me to renew my fitness journey and culinary skills, as well as to revive personal projects for which I am grateful. So as I count down the final hours of 2020 I take a moment to reflect on all that it has meant to me including a few other keywords that will forever be etched in my memory as being associated with this year including “new normal” and “sanitize” but more importantly I also wish to reflect on my expectations for next year and my good wishes for each and every person in my network. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! and “Stay Safe”
