The brief of my trip to Thailand to participate in the Apricot 2024 conference

Apricot 2024 was held in Thailand and was attended by some very important telcos, IXPs, and Data Center operators from adjacent countries such as Bangladesh, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan. They were very keenly following not only network/security studies but also the new trends of internet domains and business models.

As we know, Thailand is a center for the car manufacturing industry, and it’s also a new re-investment location for Taiwanese companies involved in electronics manufacturing who are expanding their footprint or migrating their manufacturing from China. That means we should either do the necessary resource preparation for them ourselves or build partnerships with local/global solution providers to catch those obvious business opportunities.

In Thailand, we have some very close/potential partners such as TRUE IDC, BBIX and JPIX, etc. who could support our requirements with their good resources and packages including local resources such as colocation, interconnection, and connectivity to secure deals or build larger collaborations as a virtual team. One of the goals of my trip was to learn more details about the local market in specific areas such as industry parks or communities, so I not only met up with local telco/datacenter service providers, but also the key personnel of the Taiwanese community institution. After visiting them, I got a clearer understanding of some key issues related to our expansion into SEANS countries that we should think about and develop strategies or actions.

After this trip, I hope we will enhance our ability or resources to improve our competitiveness and make our business model more successful.
