Bridging Theory and Practice: My Journey with Linear Regression at St. Joseph's College
Dr. Nandhini Nagarajan
Aspiring Design Thinker|Wipro Certified Faculty|Java Full Stack
The session aimed to unravel the linear regression, a cornerstone of predictive analytics in the field of machine learning. I guided the participants through the step-by-step process of building a regression model, from data collection and preprocessing to visualization and evaluation of results. The focus was on bridging theory with real-world applications, ensuring that participants could connect the concepts to solving practical challenges.
To make the learning more impactful, the practical session emphasized coding and implementing linear regression models in Python. Participants explored how to predict trends and patterns using historical data, giving them a glimpse into how data-driven decisions are shaping industries today. The enthusiasm and curiosity from the attendees added to the energy of the session, making it a memorable experience.
A heartfelt thanks to Dr. L. Arockiam, Head, Department of Computer Science, whose inspiration led me to explore Machine Learning for my research work. I also extend my gratitude to Dr. Joseph Charles, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, and Ms. R. Haripriya, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, SNSCT, for creating this wonderful platform to share and exchange knowledge.
What makes this moment even more special is knowing that our visionary leader, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, studied at this esteemed institution. It fills me with immense pride and joy to contribute in a small way to the legacy of this iconic college.
This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the encouragement and support of my mentors and peers. Sharing knowledge and learning from others truly makes every effort worthwhile.
