There is a lot being written and spoken about regarding the need to develop soft skills in order to bridge the impending skills gap. It is worth remembering that while AI is powering the new future of business services and capabilities it will require humans to deliver the leadership to manage this.
Non-technical skills will provide the glue to interact effectively with others. It is these skills that will impact culture, mindset and leadership. To do this successfully businesses need to look at how they can encourage the development of social and emotional behaviour.
Operating and leading change will require; self-awareness, communication, influence and learning agility. The evolution of learning technology is enabling businesses to reconsider their entire strategy and approach. Looking not just at the method for delivery; ILT, E-Learning, Micro-Learning, Coaching, Peer-to-Peer, Resources, but the data that is driving these suggestions/ recommendations and interactions and the ecosystem that is facilitating it.
There is a need to be far more proactive from a learning leadership perspective in contextualising the learning and making it relatable. This in practice means threading managers into the learning process to provide context to the role/ task or Subject Experts to provide their knowledge and expertise or work colleagues to share successes and experiences enabling learning to be woven into the business and happen continuously at a pace relevant to the individual and business need.
This is unparalleled to the past. We are not just building better learning experiences but completely evolving the culture and fabric on how we operate and interact with our colleagues. The Netex learning stack represents the core building blocks and services we use to help learning leaders look at addressing these challenges to build a 2020 vision.
