Bridging the Gap Between Intention and Action

How often do we set ambitious goals, only to find ourselves stuck in the same place weeks or months later? We start with the best intentions—we tell ourselves; this is the year I’ll finally make that significant change or Next month, I’ll start taking action. But then, life happens. Plans get delayed. We get overwhelmed. And before we know it, another year has passed without making the hoped-for progress.
In The Business Transition Handbook, I explore the critical difference between intention and action—and why so many of us struggle to close that gap. It’s not because we lack motivation or the right strategy. More often, it’s because we’re waiting for the perfect moment to begin.
The Power of Micro-Momentum
One of the most significant mindset shifts I’ve learned and shared with my clients is the importance of micro-momentum. Instead of waiting for the perfect time, plan, or mindset, taking even the smallest step forward can build the momentum needed to create lasting change.
Think about a heavy train sitting on the tracks. At a standstill, it takes enormous energy to get it moving. But once it starts rolling, even at a slow pace, it becomes much easier to pick up speed. The same principle applies to personal and professional growth—small, consistent actions make it easier to keep going.
Action Precedes Clarity
Many people believe they need clarity before acting. But in reality, action is what creates clarity. When you take a step—no matter how small—you gain insight, build confidence, and uncover the next logical move.
Success isn’t about waiting for motivation to strike. It’s about acting despite uncertainty and allowing momentum to fuel the journey forward. Whether it’s launching a new project, making a tough decision, or stepping outside your comfort zone, the key is to move—however small that first step may be.
What’s Your Next Step?
So, I’ll leave you with this question: What’s one small action you can take today that brings you closer to your goal? It doesn’t have to be big—just something that moves you forward.?
Drop your thoughts in the comments below—I’d love to hear how you’re creating momentum in your own journey!
