Bridging the Digital Divide – a collaboration between Westpac, St.George Foundation, Ethan Indigenous and Deadly Science

In classrooms across regional and remote Australia, Indigenous children gather with eager anticipation. Their schools have been selected as recipients of a unique initiative.

The initiative - a collaboration between Westpac, St.George Foundation, and IT hardware supplier?Ethan Indigenous?– will see laptops delivered through?Deadly Science,?a non-profit dedicated to providing science, technology, engineering & maths (STEM) education and resources for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander learners in Australia.

The collaboration partners were united by a shared mission - bridging the digital divide for Indigenous students. Recognising the importance of access to technology in modern education, they set out to make an impact, but it wasn’t just about laptops. It was about giving students tools to unlock their potential.

Ethan Indigenous is an Indigenous owned and operated IT hardware supplier to Westpac. It is committed to supporting the development of Indigenous businesses around Australia and focused on skilling Indigenous youth for professional career pathways in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) space.

?As the laptops were presented, Deadly Science’s Chief Operating Officer Scott Machin said, “these laptops would support science education in remote and very remote schools, empowering students to dream big.”

For Westpac and the St.George Foundation, this project aligned with their commitment to supporting equitable education. For Ethan Indigenous, a trusted Supplier to Westpac, it was a moment of pride to see Indigenous kids equipped with tools to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

?“This collaboration highlights the impact we can achieve by working together. It’s wonderful to see our procurement team consistently seeking opportunities to support our incredible community partners,” said Sally-Anne O'Brien , CEO St.George Foundation.

Keeping Indigenous students engaged in their education through providing access to tech is just one of the ways we’re investing into the community. Watch this space!

It's better to have the right words to say, especially if it is true. To be honest and explain or help to understand what's going.
