THE INTERVIEW
Interview: Peter Schultz with Joseph Haecker, Founder of Join inCrowd
Peter Schultz: Joseph, thank you so much for sitting down with me today. Join inCrowd has been making waves in the digital networking space. To start, can you share with us how Join inCrowd got started?
Joseph Haecker: Thanks for having me, Peter. The idea for Join inCrowd actually came to me back in 2017 while I was traveling as a digital nomad. I was meeting so many interesting people from all over the world, but I found that sharing contact information was often awkward and limited. Traditional business cards didn’t quite fit the bill, especially in more casual or social settings. So, I began to think about how we could create a digital contact card that truly reflects the different sides of who we are—both professionally and personally.
Peter Schultz: That’s fascinating. So, what makes Join inCrowd different from other digital business card platforms?
Joseph Haecker: What sets Join inCrowd apart is our focus on flexibility and personalization. Most digital business card platforms are designed to be a one-size-fits-all solution—they give you a digital version of your traditional business card, and that’s about it. But at Join inCrowd, we recognize that people are more than just their job titles. We all have different "crowds" we connect with—whether it’s colleagues, friends, or new acquaintances—and we believe that you should be able to share different types of information depending on who you’re talking to. That’s why we allow our members to toggle between different QR codes, like LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and now Instagram, depending on the context of the conversation.
Peter Schultz: That’s a really unique approach. Why did you decide to allow users to toggle between these other brand’s QR codes?
Joseph Haecker: It’s simple, really. We believe in providing value over trying to keep people trapped within our platform. Networking is about making meaningful connections, not just about collecting contacts. We know that our members value the ability to choose what information they share and with whom. If they’re at a business event, it might make sense to share their LinkedIn profile, but if they’re at a social gathering, they might prefer to share their Instagram or WhatsApp. By giving them the option to toggle between these codes, we’re helping them make more authentic connections, and that’s what matters most to us.
Peter Schultz: It’s refreshing to hear a company that’s focused on providing real value to its users rather than just trying to keep them within a closed ecosystem. Why do you think it’s important to give your members this kind of flexibility?

Joseph Haecker: We believe that networking should be a reflection of who you are, not just what you do. Everyone has different layers to their identity, and we all interact with different groups of people in different ways. By allowing our members to toggle between different QR codes and choose what they share, we’re giving them the freedom to be authentic and connect on their terms. In a world where we’re all constantly connected, having that kind of flexibility is incredibly valuable. Plus, it makes the whole process of making new friends, growing your network, and staying connected much more seamless and enjoyable.
Peter Schultz: Joseph, it’s clear that you have a strong vision for what Join inCrowd is all about. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your insights with us today. How can people find out more about Join inCrowd?
