Bridging the Atlantic: From Boston to Ireland and Beyond
This coming Friday, April 13 at Noon, the Global Leadership Institute in collaboration with Ireland Gateway to Europe and the Kennedy Summer School will host a panel discussion entitled Bridging the Atlantic. Two panels will investigate US-Irish relationships and globalization over the recent past, as they stand today, and where they are headed in the future.
Brexit, trade wars, declining global trade, changes in the movement of people and services, and the rise of the knowledge economy make up a new way of connecting and working globally. What does this mean for people around the world and where does Ireland fit into this? The opening panel, “Ireland, the new economic Atlantic bridge”, will examine closely these issues and questions offering insight on the changes in the way we live and work globally. Minister Michael D’Arcy, Minister of State at Finance, Megan Greene, Global Chief Economist at Manulife, and Ryan Patel, CNN contributor, will be led by their moderator Robert MacGiolla Phadrig to answer these questions and more.
Moving from reflecting on globalism and Ireland to Ireland since the peace, the second panel, “The evolution of US-Ireland relations since the Good Friday Agreement”, will explore US-Irish relations over the past 20 years. Orchestrated by Kevin Cullen of the Boston Globe, Mary Sugrue, CEO of the Irish American Partnerships, Mark Durkan, former leader of the Social Democratic Labour Party, and Minister D’Arcy, will examine Irish-US economic, educational, and cultural connections. This panel will also highlight the special connection between Boston and New Ross, Ireland through the Kennedy Summer School. You can learn more about the excellent experience of the Kennedy Summer School here and join the discussion in person September 6, 7, & 8 in New Ross.
We hope that you can join us Friday April 13 at Noon in the Boston Society of Architects at 290 Congress Street, Suite 200. A light lunch will be served.

6 年Hi Bob. Looking forward to this event. Thank you for supporting and attending the GPA dinner on Friday. I trust you and your guests enjoyed it. Me thinks what we are doing with GPA and FSM is a significant “Bridge” across the Atlantic engaging 10’s of thousands of people and a strong corporate following.
