Bridge Design 2019

MSc2 elective course for Architecture & Civil Engineering students

This years' Master course on Bridge Design, the forth in a row, was busier than ever. My students designed footbridges and bicycle bridges on 5 different locations across the Rotte. Here is a brief overview off each teams work. Course team: Joris Smits and Herbert van der Ham. Master classes by Martin Knight and Laurent Ney.

The first team deigned a circular bridge out of wood. Antonio Paoletti, Christianne Luijten and Jakob Schmitt.

The team with Bart van Nimwegen, Iris Tol and Maaike Mossinkoff designed this intricate web of steel and cables.

Luca Parlangeli, Alex Scho and Fredy Fortich Mora came up with this amazing floating structure that lifts out of the water as it rolls back.

Grammatiki Dasopoulou and Maria Dimas created a very well integrated split deck bridge.

Kiana Mousavi, Luca Fontana and Zhaoxin Yu (Frank) also split the decks, this time in a X-crossing with an slender undertight span.

Ebu Bayram and Marcus de Moes designed an organically flow of bicycle lanes across the water and the road.

Casper Bovy, Karlou Westerbeek and Lieve Croonen redirected the bicycle flow and created a public realm on the deck

Stephanie Moumdjian, Loen Sung and Alessio Vigorito turned to parametric form finding to create the perfect shell structure.

Another shell-like bridge from Adam Hill, Kaspar ter Glane and Rutger Janssen. Elegant and sleek with intriguing abutment ornamentation.

Han Li, Michalina Wawro and David den Ouden coud not decide on a single bridge and decided to make two, good call!

Angela Smit, Anneloes van Slooten and Deirdre van Gameren designed a gateway bridge for humans and wildlife to share.

And finally, team Casper Aussems, Daniel Landstr?m and Filip Romaniuk created a sculpture in concrete shells, one supporting the other.
