10. The Pandemic Meets the Digital Age, Transformations Towards a New Social Contract - Mainstage, Day 1
Featuring yours truly on the main stage for our opening day, I was excited to talk about the struggles we've all faced over the past year, largely as a result of the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. The global order has had a reckoning like never before since the outbreak began, which exposes the cracking foundations of our economies, businesses, and social contracts, and very nearly reduced them to rubble. In this presentation, I highlighted some of the lessons I learned over the past year, emphasizing the importance of innovation in times of crisis, and how we can leverage emerging technologies like blockchain to create a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable world.
9. Welcome to Toronto: Your Tech Hub to Discover - Mainstage, Day 2
Presented by Toronto Mayor John Tory, this short and sweet presentation emphasized Toronto's role as a tech hub and centre for innovation, welcoming people from all over the world to kindle their entrepreneurial spirit. As a founding member of the Blockchain Research Institute, the City of Toronto has been one of the leading voices in support of blockchain innovation.
8. An Interview with Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce Heyman - Mainstage, Day 1
I was pleased to speak with former U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce Heyman, someone with unrivalled insight into the U.S. diplomatic order and its unique relationship with Canada. He provided us with his thoughts on the future of democracy, the current state of the international order, the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, and how we can emerge triumphantly on the other side of a contentious election.
7. Navigating the Blockchain Revolution - Mainstage, Day 1
On the first day of Blockchain Revolution Global I had a thoughtful discussion with the Global Head of TCS Interactive Lakshminarasimhan Srinivasan, who is on a mission to transform business through design-led innovation, and is leveraging immersive new technologies to do so, including blockchain among many others. He provided unmatched insight for enterprise leaders looking to navigate the disruptive nature of the blockchain revolution.
6. Luminaries Panel - Mainstage, Day 5
Hosted by Alex Tapscott and featuring some of the brightest and most accomplished faces in the global blockchain ecosystem, our luminaries panel provided viewers with multiple contrasting views and opinions on a number of blockchain related topics. In the panel, Alex was joined by Hyperledger Executive Director Brian Behlendorf, CoinDesk Chief Content Officer Michael Casey, Chamber of Digital Commerce President Perianne Boring, and Amazon Web Services Global Blockchain Segment Leader Anoop Nannra.

Presented by Blockchain Research Institute Europe and Blockwall, the BRG Europe Regional Program featured leading voices from European enterprises who are actively exploring, testing, and implementing blockchain and other emerging technologies to transform the face of business. Running from Day 2 to 4, topics discussed included European blockchain regulation, investing, supply chain logistics, cross-industry collaboration, and enterprise transformation.
3. Democracy in Crisis - Mainstage, Day 1
In the lead-up to the U.S. Presidential Election, I had the pleasure of talking with George Zarkadakis, Digital Lead at Willis Towers Watson, and Tomicah Tillemann, Director of Digital Impact and Government Initiative at New America. With democracy in crisis around the world, marked by a rise in authoritarianism, censorship, xenophobia, and divisiveness, we covered a number of important topics about the state of the political world, how to counter it, the role of technology, and the parts we all have to play in safeguarding the global democratic order.
2. Digital Currency and the New Global Order - Mainstage, Day 1
The rise and power of digital currencies has caught the eye of governments and central banks around the world, who are now actively exploring how to implement Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), like a digital Dollar, Euro, or Pound Sterling. Alex Tapscott had a remarkable discussion about the future of digital currency with Christopher Giancarlo, Senior Counsel at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, and former Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. After tuning into this conversation I am left wondering when governments and central banks will start issuing their own digital currencies, not if. It is only a matter of time!
1. Mainstage Fireside Chat: Leadership in Enterprise Blockchain Adoption Presented by FedEx - Mainstage, Day 2
On Day 2 of Global Blockchain Week and Blockchain Revolution Global 2020, I was joined in discussion by two enterprise juggernauts: Raj Subramaniam, President and Chief Operating Officer at FedEx, and Rob Carter, Executive Vice President of Information Services and CIO at FedEx. During our conversation, we highlighted the importance of collaboration across the enterprise ecosystem towards blockchain adoption, and how we can play a leading role in the global blockchain revolution. We concluded that blockchain was a team sport, requiring collaboration on a cross-company level, cross-industry level, and on a global scale.
