Brexit & Protected Designation of Origin

Today Article 50 was signed and delivered - we have started the process of leaving the EU. Many of us take for granted the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status of UK products. This was an initiative from the EU and give us PDO status on products such as Blue Stilton, Welsh Lamb, Cornish Pasty, Scotch Beef and many other products. The UK leaving the EU may bring the PDO status of these products to an end. Many of our customers look for provenance this may be harder to deliver if this status disappears. If you are in Product Development or Procurement you may need to brief the business on the potential impact of this change. Let's hope we can retain the PDO status of these products.
