Boris Johnson's late conversion to the euro-sceptic cause seems calculated to press the buttons of the Conservative activists who he hopes will see him elected as David Cameron's successor. I'll be glad when the referendum campaign is all over, with its half-truths and outright lies from Brexiteers and Remainers alike. This is a pity because there are sincere and articulate people on both sides.

Single market isn't the same as the EU. Switzerland is part of Schengen, has more or less the same free trade opportunities as EU members, sits slap back in the middle of the Eurozone and yet isn't a member. I'm not saying that the UK should get out; I am merely observing that Boris' response in 2013, may not be totally contradicting his current standpoint.

This is from 2013 - a lot has changed since then - and a key thing is the supposedly successful negotiation. As always a balanced intelligent fact based debate is better than a poor point scoring media address.
