Brexit or No Brexit, Deal or No Deal - The Worrying Potential Outfall

I recently went to a conference and the last session was about the impact Brexit could have on the social housing sector. The cost and availability of materials and labour could, of course, cause problems, but these can be mitigated. The effect of a no deal Brexit on the economy as a whole (house prices, interest rates and inflation) would make things tough in the housing sector.

What I don't hear much about is the potential long term impacts of the ructions the Brexit debate is causing in the major political parties. The Conservatives are now two parties in all but name. Labour look more and more likely to split. The beneficiaries would be the populists (as the Five Star movement in Italy or the AfD in Germany). And, to make it worse, this risk is real whatever the outcome: Brexit or no Brexit, deal or no deal.

Nigel Farage as Prime Minister? What then would be the impact on social housing?
