Training Courses
Our range of Training Courses can help you start your brewing journey or improve the skills and knowledge you already have. Our courses range from three days up to nine weeks depending on the areas of development you would like to focus on.
Our beginner courses are designed to get you up and running.
The introductory Start-Up Brewing Course is ideal for anyone with no prior brewing knowledge or experience. It consists of classroom-style learning to help students gain the knowledge needed to start their brewing journey. The course also has a strong business focus and will help guide you through what is required to start brewing commercially.
The Start-Up Distilling Course is a three-day beginner course covering the basic knowledge needed to enter the distilling industry. This course also consists of classroom-style learning but includes an optional fourth day for students to participate in a practical distilling day. It is ideal for individuals with no prior distilling experience.
Our Professional Development courses are designed to provide you with suitable information to develop your skills in the brewing industry quickly. Unlike other training courses available in the industry, Brewlab’s professional development courses have a strong practical focus.
Brewing Skills Development Course is a five-day course suitable for those who are already in the industry and want to improve a specific skill set for themselves or their team. We cover the Brewing Process, Recipe development, and Raw Materials on days one & two, Yeast, Hygiene and Quality Control Theory on day three, Practical Quality Control Techniques and Skills on day four, and Professional Flavour Evaluation on day five. Our Brewing Skills development course is held in different areas of the UK to make it most accessible to brewers around the UK.
Intensive Practical Brewing Skills is a four-day course ideal for those who are looking to quickly gain technical knowledge and hone their skills to brew to a higher standard. It includes a hands-on practical brew day where students can create the recipes they have developed during the week, along with yeast and Quality Assurance days.
The Certificate in Practical Brewing is our second-longest course, fitting a wide range of topics into a three-week study period. The course has a strong practical focus and is suitable for those with some brewing experience. Topics covered range from Raw Materials and Processes, Quality Control & Microbiology and Operation of a Craft Brewery. Students also gain the opportunity to visit breweries and witness successful brewers working in a real brewing environment, giving students the chance to witness the more practical side of the industry. They also brew two beers on our 25L brew kits, using recipes developed and applying the skills learnt on the course.
The Diploma in British and International Brewing Technology is Brewlab’s longest and most detailed course. Spanning over a nine-week time frame, the Diploma course covers all the topics necessary for someone seeking to gain employment in the industry and those who want to set up a commercial brewery. The Diploma course also covers Raw Materials and Processes, Quality Control & Microbiology and Operation of a Craft Brewery, but in a more detailed and comprehensive way. Similarly to our Certificate course, our Diploma course gives students the opportunity to visit breweries on placement days, but the course provides more chances to visit breweries and suppliers to gain a wide range of knowledge. During the nine weeks, students have the chance to brew seven times using Brewlab’s brew kits and apply the skills they have learnt.
We are delighted to have the dates for future training courses in 2025!
