Global green building alliance launches industry-first guide
An international alliance of world leading green building rating system organisations, including BRE, announced the launch of the first global practical guide to facilitate the $35 trillion investment needed by 2030 to meet global energy transition goals. The guide details how building verification and certification standards can be used to comply with global classifications and bond frameworks, setting a trajectory for the global built environment to meet a sustainable 1.5°C climate threshold.?
BREEAM champions the US?Net Zero Building Definition
The Biden Administration, recognising the critical impact of buildings on the environment, has taken an essential step towards a more sustainable future with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) announcement of a new national definition for net zero buildings in the USA. BRE has welcomed the initiative, which aligns closely with our mission to promote?sustainability, resilience, and emission reductions across the global buildings sector.

Viking link project awarded BREEAM Infrastructure "Very Good" certification
In recognition of its exceptional commitment to?sustainability?and environmental performance, Viking Link, a 1.4 GW high voltage direct current electricity link between the British and Danish transmission systems has been awarded BREEAM Infrastructure ‘Very Good’ certification in recognition.
The £1.7bn project has the ability to power up to 2.5 million homes. It is expected to deliver over £500 million in savings for UK consumers over the next decade due to the link enabling cheaper power to be imported from Denmark.
