Emotions are the product of an automatic process in the brain, but your feelings come from your mind, and your behavior is your choice.?
You decide how you react to things. If you are positive, you make things better for yourself and those around you. If you are negative, impulsive, or inattentive, you become a liability to yourself.
Understanding and managing your emotions is one of the essential life skills to learn.?
In this week's LinkedIn Live, Bringing Positive Personal Effectiveness into the Classroom, our special guest, Rinda Montgomery, talked about how our children are affected by the Covid-19 and how she, together with the Mental Wellness Society, is developing tools and courses to address this problem.?
She's the Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer of Change Management of Paradigm Learning Systems and an award-winning education administrator.

What is the MindfulChoice? 4-Step Process?
The MindfulChoice? process is a sequential 4-step process that will help you manage any situation so that YOU can take control of where YOU want it to go. Here is a quick overview:
Step 1: RECOGNITION
In this step, you recognize what is present at the moment.
You want to look at the facts as they are, without any judgment about them. This is a non-judgemental snapshot of the occurrence as it presents itself.
Step 2: AWARENESS
The next step is to be aware of one's subjective experience, including:
? thoughts, feelings, pressures, demands, conflicts, and physical reactions
? the many ways the situation may go
? the potential responses and their consequences
Step 3: CHOICE
Now you use your reasoning to decide what course of action to follow and implement your decision.

Step 4: SELF-ASSESSMENT
Lastly, you ask yourself, "How well did I execute these steps?" You are not evaluating the actual outcome of the decision but whether you followed the process. Non-judgmentally, look at the process and see what you have learned and what might be done better next time.
The 4-step MindfulChoice? method helps you recognize how your choices bring you closer to or further away from your destination. With practice, you will be able to take greater control over your journey towards your destination.

Encouraging Autonomy Combats Demoralization
2 年We are definitely in the same sandbox. Rinda Montgomery has a good application. My focus is on those who "feel" they know this process but do not. That's why I start with assessment. See prehabmapp.com.
