? Breakthroughs in Electric Vehicle Charging, Domestic Manufacturing, and a Little Extra Credit

Come Work with Us!

Don’t forget, we need twelve partners for the Energy Transition Initiative Partnership Project to connect island ??? and remote communities with national energy experts who can help assess goals and solutions for clean and resilient energy transitions. Remember, technical questions must be received in writing by December 22, 2023.

Do you want to aid the research, development, demonstration, and deployment of affordable clean-hydrogen technologies? DOE will award up to $59 million to help make hydrogen infrastructure cheaper and more efficient, show new ways to use clean hydrogen, and simplify processes to deploy clean hydrogen technologies. Send in your concept papers by January 26, 2024.

?? We’re looking for ways to improve how we decide where to install large solar projects for host communities (including disadvantaged communities), the solar industry, and other stakeholders. Submit your concept paper by Jan. 30, 2024 for the chance to receive up to $7 million for social science research under Solar Energy Evolution and Diffusion Studies 4.

?? Help us raise community interest in clean energy projects and promote promising new technologies through the new Solutions for Lasting, Viable Energy Infrastructure Technologies Prize. The new $5 million SOLVE IT Prize will support innovative local clean energy solutions and help communities solve their clean energy challenges. Stay tuned in January 2024 for application announcements.

?What’s New in Renewable Energy?

?? Congratulations to the states of New York and Ohio for opening America’s first electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations funded through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. These stations are the starting point of a national network of 500,000 public EV charging ports by 2030.

Meet the new Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) Peer-Learning Cohorts program! Leaders from 46 county and local governments, tribes, community organizations, and utilities are joining forces with DOE ?? to collaborate on common clean energy opportunities and challenges.

Time for Extra Credit

Tax credits, specifically. Recently, we’ve seen big announcements and clarifications around tax credits for energy technologies.

Last month, for example, GE Vernova announced construction of the largest onshore wind turbine nacelle EVER manufactured in the U.S.! ?? This breakthrough in domestic wind production, spurred by tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act, is the latest example of how U.S. energy policy motivates domestic manufacturing of clean energy technologies and creates jobs for the American workforce.

The Treasury Department and IRS also released new proposed guidance to incentivize:
