Endless Struggle or Endless Possibilities: A Viewpoint

Endless Struggle or Endless Possibilities: A Viewpoint

This Women’s Day 2020 let's take a flight of un-regretful life full of happiness and successes.

I have the advantage of being a live example of twisted paths, splendid screw-ups, and surprising successes. I have lived through workplace sexism, job changes, marriage, raising children, existential predicaments, and everything in between, I am learning to welcome and feel less alone in my own nonlinear journey.

It is time to break all hurdles and conquer any guilt that one may have.

I’m pretty convinced that my complete professional life (OK, personal too) has been a series of shortcomings and aspirations that have led me to where I am now. And aside from general tiredness and sporadic meltdowns, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Expending the time professing to be different than you are is strenuous and seldom sustainable. Some of my dear friends are co-workers, and that makes it 100 times more fun to get up and go into work every morning. And, my family lives and breathes love, compassion, work is worship, trust, fun and togetherness. I don’t argue to have the meaning of life thought out, but I have a solid instinct that it’s all about love. If you envelop yourself with love, and feel grateful for it, I’m pretty sure you won’t have too many qualms at the end of the day.

You determine how many or what roles you want to fill up your life with. It doesn’t matter how much you do, what matters is that you are doing all of the things that are really vital to you. Want to pour yourself into your career? Do it. Want to go and start a hobby you pursued in your childhood and gave up? Do it.

There is that one time of the day where I don’t feel like an exhausted daughter, mom, productive businesswoman, or any other roles or responsibilities that I’m committed to - I feel strong, free-spirited and inspired. I completely propose that everyone finds a channel to escape to. It’s so crucial to fill some of your time with something that rouses and rejuvenates you (even if you’re squeezing that time out of thin air).

You can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them – Shonda Rhimes

So let’s stop drawing lines, particularly those defined by societal or family pressure. Let’s find a way to work diligently and move to the top. Let’s find a solution for every obstacle in our way. It is easier said than done. It is hard. It is painful. It is challenging. But at the end of the journey, there is a lot of fulfillment.

And, then here’s to taking that flight of un-regretful life full of happiness and successes.

A Very Happy Woman’s Day to you!
