#Breakthebias

The theme for this year's international women's day is a very direct yet timely one. Women across the world especially in Africa are dealing with one form of bias or the other, and practically every woman has had one of such experiences. It could be in career, business, or even academic opportunities. But women, being as strong-willed and determined as they are, are not letting these biases stop them.

Every passing day has a woman, somewhere in the world breaking records and setting new standards for what was obtainable. Some are achieving at a younger age, what their older colleagues did. Some are assuming positions that were never held by a woman in their small work communities. Many multinationals have had at least one female chief executive at this point, and it does not stop there.

In business, being a female startup founder is no longer news, and indeed, quite several female-led startups are breaking records in funding, operations, and scaling their businesses. The number of #womenintech is increasing significantly too, and in the coming years, we can expect to have more female CTOs.

Keep in mind that women cannot be boxed up. They will continue to set new records.

The theme of this #iwd2022 is a reminder to the women to not stop in their tracks, but more importantly, is it a reminder to the corporate and the business world that all biases against the female gender be brought to an end.

Please tag a woman you know is smashing records and breaking biases in her field. Let’s take today to celebrate them specially (but it does not end in one day). They should be celebrated every day.
