Over the weekend the Breakout Festival at PNE turned into a riot after the festival headliner had cancelled his performance prior to going up on stage. The crowd turned hostile and began to riot resulting in multiple fights and vandalism of the fairgrounds costing upwards of thousands of dollars. The hostile environment put the safety of the public, venue employees and responding security staff, Vancouver Police Department & Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers at risk of harm. Luckily no injuries were reported as responding police officers regained control of the environment. A few arrests have been made and will continue to be made against those who engaged in criminal acts.
