Breaking the Stigma: 4 Resources to Help Utility Industry Professionals Prioritize their Mental Health.

Prioritizing Mental Health in the Utility Industry: Valuable Resources to Support Your Wellbeing.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it's important for everyone, including those in the engineering and utility industry, to prioritize their mental health and seek support if needed. At Commonwealth, we are committed to promoting mental health awareness not only in May but throughout the year. We offer a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that can be used by all employees and their dependents.

If you're in the engineering or utility industry, there are also industry-specific resources available to support your mental health. Here are some resources that may be helpful:

Engineering and Utility Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): Many companies in the engineering and utility industry offer EAPs as part of their employee benefits package. These programs provide confidential counseling and support for employees and their families. Check with your HR department to see if your company offers an EAP.

National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) - Mental Health Resources: The NSPE has compiled a list of mental health resources for members, including links to hotlines, support groups, and articles on mental health issues.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) - Mental Health and Wellness: The ASCE has created a Mental Health and Wellness Task Committee to help raise awareness about mental health issues in the engineering industry and provide resources for engineers who may be struggling with mental health concerns.

Mental Health America - Workplace Wellness: Mental Health America offers resources and tools to help employers create a mentally healthy workplace, including tips on reducing stress and burnout, and strategies for supporting employees with mental health concerns.

Remember, seeking help for mental health concerns is a sign of strength, and there are resources available to help you prioritize your mental health and well-being. At Commonwealth, we are dedicated to creating a supportive environment for our employees and providing them with the resources they need to prioritize their mental health. Your mental health matters and taking care of yourself is an important part of achieving overall wellness.
