I’ve yet to encounter a conference where there is more than a scattering of sessions devoted to interpersonal skills. Your post makes the obvious point that testers need a balance of skills, both technical and interpersonal. Becoming and being a good tester is hard. Testers have to know a lot and they have to learn fast and keep on learning. There is so much to learn that they need to decide what they need to know when and also where. Testers are humans, working with humans. Interpersonal skills are human skills. They are also business skills. All the technical knowledge in the world won’t be enough if a tester can’t clearly articulate what they mean, or if they don’t know what questions to ask a business user, or how to ask them.
