[BREAKING NEWS] By the end of the third quarter, Ho Chi Minh City has only disbursed nearly 20% of public investment capital

Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee informed at the meeting to evaluate the socio-economic situation in the first 9 months and deploy tasks for the last months of the year held on the afternoon of October 1.

By the end of September, Ho Chi Minh City's public investment capital disbursement in 2024 was very slow, reaching VND 15,802 billion, equivalent to 19.9% of the assigned capital. The city has allocated VND 79,263 billion for public investment this year, including VND 3,686 billion from the central budget and VND 75,577 billion from the local budget.

To promote the disbursement of public investment capital, in recent times, the City People's Committee has focused on handling and removing obstacles for each specific project, speeding up the implementation progress.

The City has also reviewed, updated and adjusted the detailed disbursement plan for each week and month, including detailed project lists and disbursement amounts. In addition, the City has decentralized the assignment of Group C projects to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City; reminded functional agencies to speed up the settlement of 60 petitions from enterprises.

In handling administrative procedures, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested departments and branches to shorten the time by 30%. Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Mai directed departments, branches, districts, towns, and Thu Duc City to focus on removing obstacles and backlogs in the public investment sector, "sprint" in the last months of the year and have breakthrough solutions to achieve the economic growth target of 7.5% for the whole year.
