Hello marketers and business owners.
Happy Monday! I’m super excited for this week to get underway, especially with our Quarterly Social Media Planning event - SocialHub taking place this Friday with the award-winning guest speaker, Phil M. Jones! Secure your tickets NOW .
Let’s get started!
1. LinkedIn Launches Initial Rollout Of ‘Funny’ Reaction
The wait is over. The LinkedIn funny emoji is here…finally. However, according to LinkedIn , the 'Funny' Reaction is being gradually pushed out and is not yet available to everyone just yet. There’s already argument as to whether the feature is appropriate for a ‘professional’ platform such as LinkedIn, but I think users should view it as another form of expression. The feature has been highly requested for some time now and LinkedIn gave the people what they wanted. If you haven't got access yet, you will shortly. In the meantime, you can read more about LinkedIn’s ‘funny’ reaction here .
2. TikTok Launches Limited Test of New Viewer History Display
TikTok has officially begun a limited test of its new 'post view history ' feature, which will allow users to identify who among their followers has viewed their TikTok videos if those viewers agree to have their activity monitored. As seen in the example given by social media specialist Matt Navarra , certain TikTok users are now receiving notifications about the option, which only applies to users you follow or who follow you, offering another measure of insight into your TikTok community activity. It’s no surprise that TikTok remains at the forefront of social media when they’re continuously offering features that allow creators and businesses to delve deeper into the reach, engagement and activity.?
3. Snapchat’s Developing a New ‘Snapchat+’ Subscription Service

Snapchat is exploring a new possible revenue avenue via a new subscription service called 'Snapchat+ ,' which would provide users with access to a variety of unique and experimental app features and functions. As seen in this sample supplied by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi , the subscription would include varying price tiers as well as a free trial option, allowing users to test out what the service has to offer. At present that offering include access to exclusive Snapchat icons, an exclusive ‘Snapchat+’ profile badge, new data insights and the capacity to pin a user as your #1 best friend. None of these are very thrilling additions but it's early days, and a lot could happen between now and an official release.?
4. Meta Adds More Reels Creation Options
As it strives to embrace the short-form video trend, Meta is introducing new options for individuals to remix content into Instagram Reels , as well as the ability to build Reels from existing videos within Creator Studio . On Instagram, as shown in the example posted by Lindsey Gamble , some users are now being notified of a new ‘Remix for photos’ option when posting static images in the app. Users may utilise Remix for Photos to build Reels based on your feed post material, which they can then download and use within their own clips. That means others can re-use your work however they wish – but you can disable this feature in your settings if you don't want that to happen.
5. Instagram Adds ‘Nudges’ to Minimise Harmful Impacts On Younger Users
In response to concerns about misuse and the mental health effects of comparison in the app, Instagram is introducing some new in-app 'nudges ' to assist in the limitation of negative impacts on younger users. The new nudges will exist in two forms, the first of which is a completely new notification aimed to steer users away from content that when consumed excessively can be potentially dangerous. The second feature is an updated version of the former ‘Take A Break ’ notification. This reminder will feature well-known app creators, with the aim of improving resonance. Both updates are commendable Instagram initiatives, and while there are reservations about the true reach of the topical nudges, I support all pushes to promote the well-being of young people.?
