Breaking Free: My Story of Going All-In, Failing, and Finally Finding Success

In 2017, I started with a humble goal:

Learn a skill that nets $30k a year so I could retire before age 40.

At the time, my only exposure to wealth was through my dad (God bless his soul) and his business associates in a small remote town - these were far from ideal role models since they barely had enough and were always struggling financially.

I convinced my brother Precious who was living with me, to continue with our usual side hustle to cover our expenses while I focused on mastering a high-paying skill.

I had no paycheck, no mentorship, and no guarantees —just a vision— that I wanted to do something different.

For 3 months I studied HTML in the mornings, Python in the afternoons and PHP in the evenings, driving at full speed, to learn as quickly as possible.

My ultimate goal was to have both financial and time freedom, though I wasn't entirely sure where this path would lead.

Then it happened.

One day, during my one-hour of social media fun, I reconnected with an old pal, Kenneth, who posted about cryptocurrency trading.

I had earlier connected with him when I was having a rough time with some ponzi schemes the previous year, where he had introduced me to Ripple—a crypto coin that had surged 40% in value in my exchange wallet.

From that night, I questioned the rationale of the path I was threading.

Why focus on coding for a future job when I could learn trading in the financial markets and potentially hit my time and money freedom goals even faster?

There were many nights spent staring at the ceiling, wondering if I was just fooling myself. Months, when I was discouraged by my lack of results.

But despite what felt like 3 years wasted, I couldn't walk away.

I sacrificed everything - no video games, no parties, no distractions.

Just me and my computer screen, staring at the charts night after night.

After 4 relentless years of pain and anguish, it happened.

I invested in a mentor, which I have long avoided after previously falling for various scammers claiming to be "successful traders" with flashy toys and bogus success stories.

This time, I found myself in a community that re-calibrated my mindset, and all I thought I knew previously about myself and the market was reshaped.

That mentorship changed everything.

It gave me the confidence to go ALL IN.

I started thinking right, doing things differently, see the potential pitfalls and mental challenges of trading that I'd never considered before.

I realized that this was a long-term journey, one that required reprogramming deeply ingrained beliefs and emotions shaped by my environment.

Not thinking negatively about losses, or being ecstatic about wins, because I knew I had been through hell, and done the work required, which meant I deserved the profits the market gave me, and accepted the losses as a cost of doing business.

Trading has transformed my life.

The kid who once dreamed of being a high-income-earning doctor and the teenager who worked various jobs to make ends meet now has the chance to retire sooner than I ever imagined.

I now understand how to work in a market where I can print money at will.
