Breaking Free from the Snooze Button
Thomas Nisbet
?? Are You a “Desk Dave”? Feeling low on energy, sluggish, not quite like your old self? You’re not alone. This page will give you direction to avoid it.
Since the start of the year, I’ve had seven 1:1 calls where the snooze button has come up as a major topic. It’s something that’s been holding guys back, and trust me, I get it. I used to struggle with it too.
I used to trick myself into believing these three things:
But all three of these? They were lies.
Snoozing was just a way to make me feel better about the poor choices I was making. It was holding me back, and once I realised that, things started to change.
and i don't mean to get to my goals it was simply to improve my daily life.
What I Teach My Clients to Beat the Snooze Button
Here are three strategies I’ve shared with my clients to break free from snoozing and start the day right:
1. Challenge the Belief Behind It
If you believe you’re not a morning person, then you won’t be. It’s as simple as that. Yes, some people naturally find mornings harder, but how will you know if you don’t actually give it a proper try?
Also, let’s be honest: are you staying up until 11 PM or later watching Love Island or scrolling through your phone? If you’re doing that, of course you’re going to feel knackered when your alarm goes off in the morning. You’ve set yourself up to
2. Change Your Alarm Game
Stop relying on your phone as your alarm. Put your alarm somewhere that forces you to physically get out of bed to turn it off. Better yet, invest in a sunlight alarm that simulates a natural sunrise. I got mine for a tenner, and it’s been a game changer.
(If you want the link to the one I bought, message me. I can’t share it here or LinkedIn will think I’m selling something!)
3. Get Accountability
This one can be tough, but it’s incredibly effective. If you’re part of my programme, you already have this in place. But if you’re not, you can still find a mate to hold you accountable or even just commit to doing it yourself.
Tell someone your goal or write it down somewhere visible. Accountability doesn’t need to be complicated, but it does need to exist.
Breaking the snooze habit isn’t easy, but it’s absolutely worth it. Try these strategies, and you’ll see the difference in your energy, productivity, and mindset.
