???My latest learning: Is red really red?
Yesterday afternoon, my daughter suddenly stood in the doorway and asked out of nowhere:
"Mom, do you think that for everyone the color red, is red? Or could it be that for someone else, red would also be yellow or blue?"
I paused for a moment and smiled: An exciting question that I had never asked myself before. And here we are again:
Thinking out of the box - something I do far too rarely as an adult. So, I’m all the more grateful that children keep inviting us to do so.
After an imaginative and creative discussion between my daughter and me, I realized this again. That’s what it’s all about:
We all see the world through our own glasses. And far too often we assume that our glasses are the right ones, the only ones, the true ones.
But the exact opposite is the case. Especially when I want to touch and inspire colleagues professionally or accompany people on their journey in coaching, I can and must ask myself the question: What glasses are my listeners looking through?
When I engage with others, when I put myself in their shoes, new worlds open up for me.
So, if we are willing to put on different glasses much more often, then we will benefit from this communication. It will be more effective and more impactful!
After all, who can say whether the color red is red for everyone? Not me!
?? Career Inspiration: Just pressure and tight timing - how can we get out of this?
The tighter the timing, the less time there is to change anything
She spoke quickly. She had no time to lose. The day was thoroughly scheduled, and everything was precisely planned. A full-time job in an industry where a lot of money is at stake. Plus: two small children and a - not so small - household. Her life worked when everyone worked. She made sure that this was the case. Good organization was everything. Considering every eventuality. She would lie awake at night and think about whether she had missed something.
What she lost over the years was her idealism, her joy of life, her openness towards other people - and at some point: towards herself.
So, she came to my coaching. She was tense and full of pressure. Tough on herself and her environment. And driven by the fear that the house of cards she had painstakingly built up would collapse. How do you get out of this?
When we are stuck in such a cycle, under so much pressure, it seems almost impossible to get out of it. And yet it can be done. I experience this again and again.
The first thing we clarify in coaching is the question of how it would be better. "How would it be really amazing?" is one of my favorite questions. It's an invitation to consciously think about what and where you actually want to go - and to use your inner compass to do so.
Getting to this compass is sometimes not so easy. When we are used to functioning, when a tight schedule, high demands, and a lot of pressure have dominated our lives for years or even decades, it takes some time and patience to unearth it. "Others can do that, but it's not possible in my position" - thoughts like these come up regularly in coaching sessions, and they are completely normal. My job as a coach is to question them critically. Because not all of them are true. Finding and using your inner compass is essential.
Only when we know where we want to go, and only when we stop putting unnecessary obstacles in our way, can we reach our destination. The beauty of this work is that it unleashes unimagined powers. When we are enthusiastic about something, when we feel like living the life that has arisen as an image in our head, messenger substances such as adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine are released in our brain - change becomes easier for us. When we stop sabotaging ourselves unnecessarily and start taking ourselves and our desire for a different life seriously, we no longer ask ourselves IF it is possible, but HOW it can be achieved. We find ways. And boldly take the first step.
Do you know where you want to go? What your life would look like if it were really (really!) beautiful? I would be happy to help you clarify these questions. I will support you in not sabotaging yourself unnecessarily and I will work with you to develop strategies for implementation. If you want to get started - get in touch with me! ?? Female Leadership: Increase your leadership potential NOW - with this one tip!
I get asked the question again and again:? Katharina, do you have a quick tip for me on how to become that leader everyone appreciates?
A manager who leads her team to top performance. Who always finds time for employee management. And at the same time does justice to her strategic tasks. And one that I can implement immediately in my day-to-day work.
The background is almost always as follows:
Highly motivated manager
领英推荐
Committed to progress and innovation
Only been in the position for a few months
The manager's wish:
Wants to do everything right
Wants to be there for her employees
Wants to fulfill their leadership role
Wants to develop into a manager who is valued by everyone
Unfortunately, the reality is different:
A flood of meetings
Countless administrative tasks
Never-ending questions from employees An overflowing calendar
No gaps in the calendar for strategic brainstorming
The sad result:
Busy instead of productive
Not doing any task justice
Frustration In the worst case, burnout
The solution: Schedule time for leadership!!!!
This tip has already worked for hundreds of managers. I have been supporting managers in their ascent for over 5 years. Time management is the biggest lever and at the same time the biggest obstacle on their path. But how do you do it when your day-to-day work doesn't allow it? ?It's quite simple! ?With these 3 steps, you can lay the foundation for your success:
Calendar management: Don't rely on to-do lists. Block specific blocks of time in your calendar for important tasks. These times are non-negotiable. This way, important, strategic tasks don't get lost in the daily madness. And you can recognize in good time when a task is taking up more time.
Protecting time after vacation: After vacation, many of us return to a cluttered inbox. Schedule blocks of time to follow up on these emails. Resist the temptation to catch up on meetings postponed during your vacation. This way, the recovery effect lasts even after the vacation. You won't be overwhelmed with unfinished to-dos.
Set boundaries: It is essential to keep work and private life separate. Avoid reading work emails in your free time. This not only disturbs your relaxation, but also affects your overall performance. One solution can be two cell phones. Don't look at your work phone during family time.
Use idle time in everyday life: Train travel Driving a car Housework Gardening Wonderful times to listen to a podcast or audiobook.
Success as a manager goes hand in hand with success in other areas of life. The great entrepreneurs of our time have already understood this. Mastering this balancing act requires a lot of discipline and a focus on the essentials.
If you are not sure what you need to focus on to achieve your highest possible my MOVE UP! program is for you. It starts on Monday 4th of march and you can still take part.????click here .?
