Breaking Free from the Need for Approval: Shifting Paradigms for Personal Growth

Breaking Free from the Need for Approval: Shifting Paradigms for Personal Growth

Our need for approval from others can hinder personal growth and prevent us from taking bold steps towards our desires. To change this paradigm, two approaches can be employed: emotional impact and repetition of new ideas. Focusing on the latter, here are three practices to shift the paradigm of needing approval:

  1. Increase self-esteem by studying self-improvement resources, such as "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Dr. Maxwell Maltz, which reshapes self-perception.
  2. Repeat the affirmation, "It’s not who I am that is holding me back; it’s who I think I’m not." Display this statement prominently to reinforce self-approval and diminish the reliance on external validation.
  3. Utilize affirmations to change the belief that approval is necessary. Craft personalized affirmations that instill confidence and self-assurance, repeatedly impressing them on the subconscious mind.

Additional exercises to amplify results include creating a Personal Success Journal/Scrapbook to reflect on past accomplishments and undertaking a Week of Yes, where one embraces unexpected opportunities to step outside the comfort zone. Engaging in these practices, along with consistently demonstrating self-appreciation in small ways, paves the way for personal growth and reduces the need for external approval.

By understanding one's inherent worth and recognizing the divine guidance within, the fear of others' opinions diminishes. Embrace the unexplored adventures ahead, release coping mechanisms, and dare to live a life free from the constraints of seeking approval.

Thank you for super useful exercises here. A good place to start is also a reflection on whom we need an approval from and for what. Then work on new habits in relation to that person & then use that learning in relation to others.

The opening sentence is everything. Giving the power away stops us to experience our life
