Breaking Free of Fear

For years now I've wanted my own business. It was always a dream of mine. While other little girls were dreaming of the perfect wedding, I was dreaming of the perfect business! I used to lay in my bed day dreaming about myself with a suitcase, wearing a business suit, strolling along the sidewalks of downtown, doing something very important for my own business.

Well, that little girl grew up and as the years passed, I've had many wonderful positions within great companies and have been presented with some truly amazing opportunities..... but somehow I couldn't get rid of that dream from so many years ago of being a business owner.

It eventually got to the point where I was very unhappy inside because I knew that I was not doing what I was supposed to be doing. But what was standing in my way for so long? Was it the lack of time? Lack of money? Lack of resources? Yes, I'm sure these were all factors but one day I realized the main thing that was holding me back was Fear. I was afraid of failing, afraid of being rejected, heck, I was afraid of being afraid! It got to the point where I literally said out loud "I can't take this anymore! Please help me! What do I do?" and I heard something within myself say these 4 simple words...."PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE!" I had to stop and really think about this. What did that mean? Then came another realization..... that because of fear, I'd been hiding in different "jobs" for all of these years! Sure I was learning, accomplishing things, and having great experiences but I was still hiding and not pursuing my dream. 

So I took a deep breath and little by little I began to put myself out there. I developed a business plan and I began networking, just as I was.... with my dream, my personality, my skill set and experience, and my values. As I aligned myself onto the right path, it was like the universe began to open up and things began to happen! I began to get clients...MY OWN CLIENTS!! I began to develop amazing partnerships with highly successful and skilled individuals and slowly.....the fear began to disappear. I was breaking free of fear.

I'm not sure who I'm writing to today, but I have a feeling that there is someone out there that needs to read this post and be encouraged. Encouraged to never let go of your dreams...they were given specifically to you. Encouraged to step out and break free of your fears.....or they will hold you back from your happiness and purpose. Encouraged to put yourself out there...just as you are, you don't have to change yourself to be like someone else in order to succeed.

All this partnered with ambition, determination, and perseverance, things will come together for you and your dreams will begin to become reality!

In the wise words of Henry Ford "One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn't do."
