Breaking Down Salesforce: Sales Cloud

Our readers are familiar with our articles about Salesforce and namely the Sales Cloud?overview, published recently. Now, in tandem with our recent YouTube video?“Salesforce: Intro to Sales Cloud”??this article will break it down and show our readers how Sales Cloud can be used.??

Let’s Refresh with a Brief Explanation of Sales Cloud

As one of our content creators & Salesforce admins, Tyra mentions in the video:?Sales Cloud is a Salesforce automation software that helps sales managers highlight team wide insights that can guide overall sales strategies. This includes establishing sales quotes to sales forecasting to even territory management. It helps build business growth and assists the sales team from within as it can generate leads to following up on opportunities and even closing deals faster. Through Sales Cloud your salesperson can manage deals from a single workspace and track every customer interaction!?

The video highlights the following aspects of Sales Cloud:?

-How to get into Sales Cloud?

-Accounts tab and what information gets populated there?

-How to add an account or import accounts?

-Contacts tab and what its used for?

-Opportunities tab including stages and close date as well as how to edit these fields?

-Home page and its dashboards

Log In & Select Sales in App Launcher

Upon logging onto Salesforce, select app launcher (highlighted in red below) and then Sales which brings you to this page.?

From here on a day-to-day basis the three tabs that you would use are Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities.

Accounts?can also be referred to as Organizations as it includes prospects, suppliers, consultants, and business partners. When adding an account, click NEW and fill out all applicable and known fields as it is also visible to other employees or colleagues that would be?granted access and usage. If you find yourself needing to add accounts in bulk, you can clickimport and choose the .CSV file of your choosing.??

In the?Contacts tab?you will find those that work at previously mentioned accounts. When adding contacts, similarly, to adding a new account, click on new and fill out as many fields as you can in the interest of being as concise as possible, such as ‘mailing address’, ‘email’, ‘fax’, ‘title’, ‘reports to’ and such for your own benefit.

Finally, we have the?Opportunities tab,?here you will be able to find your sales deals. You want to be aware of three key pieces. There is stage, close date and amount. Each have been highlighted in the screenshot provided below. Stage will show you what stage each deal is at whether that is Closed Won, Closed Lost, at the Price Quote stage, Meeting Scheduled stage and so on. As the deals progress simply click on the stage specific to the deal and in the dropdown click the stage you would like to update it to. With close date, you can add the calendar date you believe the opportunity or deal will be won or lost. This can also be edited by clicking on the date specific to chosen deal. Amount which is also referred to as revenue or dollar amount, can be seen by clicking on any opportunity name. This action takes you to the profile of the deal and here you can see the amount next to account name and close date in the top banner of the screen. On this page you can also see details, contacts, cases, notes/files and?on the right side of the page any stage history, activity or chatter pertaining to the opportunity. Each option can be clicked to be expanded upon.?

To go back to the homepage, you can simply click the home tab on the top of the page at any time. Here you will see and be able to modify the sales pipeline, potential revenue source for the current year, any recent records that have been opened, viewed or edited, key deals/recent opportunities, amounts and tasks that have been assigned whether to yourself or not.?
