Breaking Cycles
"Just because you learned by being beaten doesn't mean you can teach by hitting." (quote attributed to Rubem Alves)
When we learn from painful experiences and continue these behaviors, it's like picking at a scab that has already healed. But fear not, we can break the cycle and make a difference! Let's act like the leaders we would have wanted when we were interns. Instead of repeating the same mistakes and thinking "now it's my time!", let's embrace the opportunity to learn and grow!
It is not wise to compare the difficulties faced by different generations and conclude that today's youth are unaccustomed to hardship (and use it as an excuse to teach by hitting). Each generation has its own unique challenges and it is unfair to make comparisons. Instead of judging or comparing, we can learn from each other and appreciate different perspectives. As Solomon taught, "People learn from one another as iron sharpens iron" (Proverbs 27:17).
Being for others what we would like someone to be for us can be transformative!
