Breaking Cycles of Incarceration

Did you know that research shows that 70% of inmate's children will end up incarcerated? Crime follows crime.

The startling statistic that 70% of inmates' children will end up incarcerated underscores a profound societal issue. Several factors contribute to this intergenerational cycle.

  1. First, children of incarcerated parents often experience trauma, instability, and a lack of positive role models, leading to behavioral and emotional issues.
  2. Second, economic hardships due to a parent's imprisonment can limit opportunities and access to education.
  3. Third, these children may reside in high-crime neighborhoods, increasing their exposure to criminal activities.
  4. Fourth, societal stigma and labeling can hinder their social integration and self-esteem.
  5. Lastly, without effective intervention programs, the cycle of crime and incarceration perpetuates, passing from one generation to the next.

Do you know of an effective intervention program for fathers and mothers incarcerated?

Recently, I learned of the intervention programs Lifeline Global Ministries is providing. A ministry inspiring and equipping men, women, families, churches, and communities to develop godly fathers and mothers regardless of their circumstances.

I invited Mike Broyles, the Executive Director of Lifeline Globa Ministries, to join the Unconventional Ministry podcast to explain their program.

Lifeline works to teach and shepherd incarcerated women and men into becoming the godly parents they are meant to be – that they can be through the transforming power of the Gospel.

Lifeline Global's primary avenues of ministry are the?Malachi Dads?and?Hannah's Gift?programs, which are book series written by and for incarcerated mothers and fathers.

Dr. Kristi Miller Anderson, the author of two of the Hannah's Gift curriculum books, gives an overview of the program and speaks to the need for volunteers to take this program to your local women's corrections facility.

"Prison is too good for that monster! Lock 'em up and throw away the key!" A hopeless monster—that's what most people think of when they learn about unthinkable crimes. But not Lifeline Global's Executive Director, Mike Broyles. He understands their crimes, but he still sees a son or daughter of God in every jail or prison cell.

ONLY GOD… CAN CHANGE THE HEARTS OF INMATES AND THEIR FAMILIES

Only God is a story of restoration for families who will never be reunited and of hope for those who are incarcerated. It's the story of God's work through programs from Lifeline Global. In this book, you will:

Thanks for addressing this important topic. When visiting a women’s prison last month, the ladies who came for prayer and ministry all were concerned about their children.
