Breaking the Cycle: A Shared Vision to End Gender-Based Violence

Over the past five years, I have been honored to lead transformative efforts through the Lawgecko Initiative, a movement dedicated to advancing justice, equity, and innovative solutions to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Our mission has focused on empowering survivors, building preventive frameworks, and fostering partnerships to challenge societal norms that perpetuate GBV.

This work has been both challenging and deeply fulfilling, and it aligns with the inspiring efforts of the World Bank to address GBV as a critical global development challenge. Their initiatives to integrate survivor-centered approaches, engage communities, and prioritize GBV prevention in development projects remind us all that ending GBV is about more than protecting rights—it’s about unlocking opportunities for everyone to live, thrive, and contribute to their communities.

This shared vision of creating impactful change was the foundation of my recent talk at the SAFe Summit in Washington, D.C., where I had the privilege of presenting on “SAFe for Good: Innovating Against Domestic Violence with AI.” In this session, I explored how AI and agile frameworks can become powerful tools to drive systemic change and address pressing issues like GBV. Every day, I am reminded that change begins with courage—the courage to speak out, to lead, and to collaborate. It is through collective action that we can dismantle the barriers standing in the way of progress. Together, we can envision and build a world free from violence, where every voice is heard, every story is valued, and every life is protected.

As we continue to forge partnerships and push boundaries, I am hopeful about the future we can create. A future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive in a world built on equality and justice.
