Breaking Borders at Web Summit Rio ????

Last week, the global tech industry converged in Rio de Janeiro for the highly anticipated Web Summit conference. As we arrived, the energy and excitement of the LatAm tech ecosystem was electric, all united in their passion for technology, innovation and global expansion. This year's event was especially significant, as it marked the first time Web Summit made its way to Rio, and we were thrilled to be part of such a historic moment.

As I engaged with fellow speakers, tech's biggest companies, and top media outlets, I couldn't help but feel inspired by the incredible ideas and game-changing solutions being presented. Also to bear witness to the change makers already challenging the status quo across South America and the rest of the world.

It was a proud moment to represent Multiplier, to share our story and our mission.??

Join me as I look back at some of the most inspiring moments and highlights of this unforgettable event.

1?? Opening ceremony night

It was a huge honour to have been invited on-stage during the opening ceremony in front of a sell-out audience of 11,000 to share the story of Multiplier, and our mission to create a world without limits. We believe in a world where people all over the world should have access to the best opportunities, and be free to have the job they love without having to leave the people they love. And this mission is what propels us to break the boundaries of what is truly possible for business leaders and talent, all over the world.?

?2?? Meeting people who share the same beliefs ?

The conference was packed with incredible thought leaders and innovators who share our same values, such as Ricardo Amorim , listed by Forbes as Brazil’s most influential economist and #1 LinkedIn LatAm influencer who believes Brazilian companies need to build for global scale and not just local opportunities. We believe in this mantra whole heartedly. Today, the future of work is global from day one.?

?3?? To share our LatAm growth? plans?

One of the reasons we were in Rio was to share our global expansion plans across South America, with entities already established in the likes of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Guatemala and Mexico. And more to come in 2023.

With Brazil as the next frontier of our global expansion efforts, we believe in helping more businesses go-to-market internationally and tap into the incredible talent pool of South America. In particular, we see the potential in this market as the Silicon Valley of LatAm, with a strong talent pool that is ripe for the picking.

4?? AI and Payments were the hottest topics?

There wasn’t a more hotly debated topic than AI and payments, with attendees eager to learn about the latest developments in these areas and how they could impact the future of technology. The discussions surrounding AI ranged from the ethical implications of its use to the potential for its integration into various industries. Meanwhile, the payment discussions focused on advancements in digital currencies, the rise of contactless payment systems, and the impact of mobile payment technologies on emerging markets.

"AI can help entrepreneurs to gather more data and to analyse the market to easily understand unmapped demands of the customers. It’s a very powerful tool to innovate and come up with new products and services." – Pedro Bramont from @bancodobrasil on how #AI is revolutionizing the economy ??

5?? Meeting the media

It was an honour to meet with leading journalists covering the event and our expansion plans,? from the Editor of Forbes Brasilia Fabi Corrêa to the Editor of Valor Economica Maria Luiza Filgueiras and Gustavo Brigatto, Editor of Start-ups.

I would be honoured to host you in Singapore or India whenever you travel here.?

?6?? Embracing the landmarks of Rio de Janeiro ????

And of course. Emily and I couldn’t have travelled all the way to Rio and not embraced the local cuisine and incredible landmarks on our doorstep. The highlight was taking a cable car to experience Sugarloaf Mountain, a peak situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the mouth of Guanabara Bay on a peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. And without a doubt, experiencing one of the Seven Wonders, Christ the Redeemer.

Until next time Rio!?
