The world we live in today is often described as VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous). In this era of constant change, the ability to adapt has never been more important. As someone who came into Bangkit 2023 without an IT background, I knew that adaptability would be key to my success in this program. Luckily, Bangkit 2023 provides us with an ILT session that covers this topic. In this article, I will be sharing my experience applying five ways of adaptability at Bangkit 2023 and how these strategies helped me overcome challenges and achieve my goals. Through my story, I aim to inspire others to embrace change and develop the resilience and adaptability needed to thrive in this uncertainty. Here are the 5 ways of adaptability that I have done in this program.
Ways of Interacting
As we know, Bangkit conducts all learning activities online. So, in order to bring effective communication, I usually use Discord to communicate with my mentor and other cohorts. I have found it to be a challenging yet rewarding experience to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bangkit also requires us to use English to communicate with each other, which helps me a lot to improve my English skill, especially speaking and writing. Besides that, to gain support and motivation, I often talk with cohorts from the same uni.
Ways of Achieving
It's important to know why we are in this program and what we hope to achieve. I usually set weekly goals and long-term goals. After that, I plan my schedule and manage my task using This will motivate me to work hard and measure my progress, especially when it comes to Coursera. Also, Bangkit 2023 is a new environment for me, so I have to follow the code of conduct. By following this, I can have a positive and peaceful environment to achieve my goals.
Ways of Learning
As someone who doesn't come from an IT background, the first few weeks were really tough for me. Learning very brand new skills and keeping up with the pace was a challenge for me. However, Bangkit 2023 provides us with weekly consultations, ILT sessions, and guest speaker sessions that will help us to improve. I often ask my friend and mentor if I don't understand some topic and then we discuss it. Even though I am not a fast learner, I always remember that learning is a lifelong process, and with dedication, anyone can succeed.

Ways of Working
As we know from the timeline, Bangkit is a program that requires a lot of focus and dedication. 8-hours of study per day is a bit challenging for me. I usually go to the UGM library helps me to stay focused and avoid procrastination. I also use Google Calendar to manage my schedule.
Ways of Thinking
To achieve success in this program, it's essential to have a growth mindset. As I learn in past ILT sessions, I can recognize my fixed mindset and am able to make plans to overcome those challenges. This helps me to be open to feedback, learn from mistakes, and embrace the challenge. It is one of the most important aspects of adaptability.
To sum up, I believe that my experience implementing the 5 ways of adaptability at Bangkit 2023 has helped me understand the importance of adaptability. By applying these, I hope I can become more adaptable and resilient.
