Breaking Bad

(I strongly advocate against smoking and speak from experience as after 25+ years of blowing smoke, in 2016 I gave it up for good)

'Breaking Bad' is good.?For the erudite, I am not referring to the Emmy and Golden Globe winning crime drama that continues to be the benchmark for television shows. Its antepenultimate episode “Ozymandias” is regarded as the greatest episode in TV history.?

The phrase 'Breaking Bad' was widely used in the US in 1970s.?While Urban Dictionary has a bevy of definitions, let’s assume that “break bad” means to “go wild,” to “defy authority” or to “break the law”.?Why is 'Breaking Bad' good then??Let's ponder.

If you reflect, your highs and lows in life are the memories that got etched.?The highs always celebrate how you turned the conventional wisdom on its head in your own way.?The lows weigh how you narrowly missed changing the world or how you did not see it coming else you would have still changed the world.??

Turning the conventional wisdom on its head happens because we choose to the cross the line – the line that is created by the society, culture, family, the environment or just our own beliefs. The lows also tend to happen because we cross the line but with different outcomes.

The hardest thing in life is letting go of what you thought was real.

The finest example of this in Asia: The first 20 years of our lives we are taught to always follow our elders (seniors).?In the corporate world, the first thing you are taught is to speak up.?All of us eventually learn to master this dissonance within the contours of our own perspective. It's the ability to constantly push the boundaries of our beliefs is what shapes our lives.?How so?

'Breaking Bad' in a sensible way allows you to hone your ‘Devil’s Touch’. Now, you can’t be creating memories every day!?Even Gods need rest.?But then again if you are always comfortable – your life will pass by without a murmur. So how do you know if you are pushing the boundary??It’s easy. If it doesn’t make you uncomfortable or doesn't scare you, then it isn’t good enough.?

‘Breaking Bad’ allows you to grow your influence and sponsorship way beyond what you would normally aspire to.?There are no set rules to it.?Every failure will be a learning until you begin to kill it. Breaking Bad then becomes a way of life!?

If your mantra is to be different always, then think again! 'Breaking Bad' may actually be 'Breaking Bad'. Never forget...

Loved this and I can so relate to it. I was inhibited by my fear to learn driving. It was my scare of causing accident. And I ended up relying on public transport. Now I broke free and learnt it. And each of my failures taught me to get out of it. Thank you for articulating it so well for us

Great one Navneet. I feel it a paradigm shift where people accept one as a failure and at the same time give you support to take the next challenge
