The Break-up

As my wife and I were driving to Gettysburg last weekend we saw a billboard for the annual Renaissance Festival. It brough back memories to a trip to the Festival when my daughters were teenagers.

At that time my eldest daughter asked if she could bring her boyfriend Charlie on the trip and my youngest daughter brought her girlfriend along. So on the way TO the event when we would spend the day at the Festival she broke up with her boyfriend. So, my wife and I were left to stay with him most of the day while he moped around the event. Meanwhile my daughters and the girlfriend had a fun time enjoying the Festival. To this day, 18 years later, we laugh whenever the Renaissance Festival is mentioned and we tease our daughter for what she did.

Why did she break up with him on the way to the Festival? Because he asked her if they were going to be breaking up (he assumed at a later day) and she said yes.

If the relationship with your web marketing agency isn't working, you may need to do what our daughter did that day. It may be time to break up. I was speaking with someone recently who has been with the same agency for two years, and the relationship isn't working. That agency has stopped communicating regularly, and their client doesn't know if they are working on their marketing (the results are anemic.)

I'm a firm believer that you need to give your agency 9-14 months to get organic search engine optimization to show strong results. However, I also believe that an agency should be communicating at least monthly and reviewing results each month.

While I'm not a marriage counselor, if I can help you evaluate your current relationship, please reach out to me. If you don't know how well your marketing is performing, I can review that with you. Schedule a free consultation
