The center of your chest holds an intelligence that is nine times more sensitive to safety than the one in the head.
Your nervous system is asking this question about 36 times a minute.
"Is it safe or is it dangerous to be me here?"
If you're up for a challenge...
√ Place your attention on your heart center and allow a symbolic visual to arise in your awareness.
√ What symbol do you see when you look inwardly at your heart?
It may show up as a color, a sensation, a memory, a thought... a feeling...
I asked my client (I'll call him Nick) to look at his heart while we were in our conversation.
He said...
"I'm aware of a weight, a layer that is not my true self and I remember when this arose to protect my heart. It was in an argument that my partner and I were having in the kitchen one day. I was trying to get her to see that what she was saying was hurting my heart in that moment and all she had to do was see what I was feeling. I kept trying, even though I knew it was not becoming clear to her. As I fought to get this "need" met, I betrayed my heart and the wall went up. Each time, another layer created a buffer not only from the insensitivity of others, but also from my own."

This is a beautiful awareness Nick was gathering as he listened to the innate intelligence in his heart.
The strategies we utilize in this life to deal with challenges are often wise adaptations to experiences that are overwhelming or difficult to cope with well in the moment.
A trigger, a micro-habit, a behavior... a desired outcome.
Each time you recognize this sort of reactivity that contributes to your own heart walls, you are creating a micro-habit for kickstarting a new behavior that will ultimately build a new outcome.
One of the laws of change is that resistance will show up in an opportunity to create a new way of being.
√ What's essential to remember A Fundamental Truth:
What we give our attention to requires energy. How we choose to use our energy behind our attention will guide us in that same direction.
When Nick was standing there in the kitchen "trying to be heard", he was leaking the very resources required to allow his "needs" to be met.
