Go to a different country for a month?

Start a cold email campaign?

Cold call 100 people a week?

Get into and stay in money mode for your business?

When you are in money mode, your phone is for calls, nothing else. But if you’re like me you feel like cold calling is not any fun... Not at all... But if you don’t reach out to people, how do you grow your business??

So, herein lies the conundrum... How do you do cold reach out without sounding like a traditional cold marketer??

First, start by joining a networking group like BNI. This will help you learn the ropes in talking to people about what you do. Another thing to do is to do the thing you hate the most.??

Get all the way out of your comfort zone. For me, that is cold reach out. There are multiple ways to do cold reach out but that’s an article for another day, just make sure you prepare your mindset for amplified rejection... That was the hardest thing for me.??

You can start a podcast.?

Build an online course.?

Create a massive social media following.?

But before doing any of that you need to first do a few things.?

Create Clarity on what your product and/or service is??

This literally is what it sounds like. Define your product or service ‘Elevator Pitch’ style and tell it to as many people as you can. A very general rule of thumb is this: 10 connects, 3 meetings, 1 sale. In today’s environment you may need to crank up the out reach to get the meetings. If you are using cold marketing you will need to reach 100 connects for 3 meetings and 1 sale. Improve your pitch and messaging to increase your odds of success.??

Then create clarity on how your product and/or service benefits people?

Social proof is the key here. As you work with people, get reviews and testimonials. Seriously, this is one area most of us leave much to be desired. Not everyone will leave a review, so try to get to a 50% success rate. Any success wins. As long as you can demonstrate how you help people, it will be noticed. Create the supporting case studies as well. You can house these on a landing page.?

What is your process/method for helping the benefit happen?

Once you see helping people, brand your method. This is unique to you, so make it stand out. You don’t want to go to prospects saying “hey there! I use Tom’s method to help people.” Thank you if you do, but it would be better for you to make your own system, brand it, and promote it. This is all about you and your process.??

How long does it take?

Define a timeline for success. If it’s 6 months, let your prospects know. If it’s 2 weeks, let the, know. They need to know how long it will take for change to happen. If it happens in stages, define the expectations. But also define what you expect of your clients to achieve these expectations. That counts too.?

Now you can go to market?

Now that you know the elements that make up your offering, you can talk to people. Gone will be the need for scripts, your message will flow from the heart. Armed with a purpose, you can accomplish anything. Therefore, you should take the time on the front end to establish your clarity. It is far easier to explain it to others when you know exactly what you sell and how the value exceeds the cost. This keeps you from wasting valuable time – both yours and your prospects.?

SUMMARY?

Before you start making calls to sell your product/service do a couple of things:?

  • Create clarity around what you sell?
  • Create clarity on the benefits of your product/service?
  • Be clear on your method?
  • Know how long it takes?
  • Go to market?

Armed with this information, you will not need to rely on canned scripts or other people’s systems. Create an overview of your calls, follow the process, and let your light shine.??

There is no need to pursue work-life balance. It is not important to put the same amount of each on either side of a scale. But, when both work in harmony, you feel better. You perform better. You show up better. You build better relationships. You set better boundaries. You complete work effectively. You coach your daughter’s soccer team. You go for walks with your spouse. You remember client’s birthdays. You sleep amazingly. You wake up refreshed. And most importantly, you give yourself praise for being great at everything you do. This is the 960 Method.??

Thats kinda how I do it. No scripts - ever. When you focus 100% on the person you're talking with, you don't need a silly script.
